... and this is the comment of the greek fiscal authorities.... 2005-09-02
Following text has been delivered to us by the Treasure Department regarding this story:

A. There is no new tax law, but customs guidelines concerning the
implementation of an old law applicable to all EU countries, regarding
the import of a yacht in an EU territory.
B. These guidelines concern only owners of yachts that are flying a non
EU flag which have been imported in Greece (VAT paid) and for which
yacht a Transit Log of unlimited validity has been issued by the
customs authority
C. The above arrangements do not concern any foreign owners of vessels
flying an EU flag, regardless duration stay in Greek waters, or any
vessel sailing in Greece for tourism purposes.
Even more, vessels flying non-EU flags have absolutely no problem
staying in Greece up to one year, in accordance with the current
legislation.

K&G Med Marinas Management SA has obtained the clarification of the Customs
Guideline following a meeting with the heads of the Greek Treasury Dept,
Tourism Developing Dept and Greek Tourist Organization.
